Here's
a weird fact: the average person now watches over four hours of television
each day, yet research clearly shows it doesn't make us fell any better.
In fact, the most common reported emotion while watching the box is mild
depression.
It
gets worse. A recent study showed that watching a lot of TV vastly
increases our craving for more possessions, and every hour we watch reduces our
contentment by around 5 percent.
It's
time to turn off the box. First, make a pact (with your family, if
necessary) to have the TV on only three nights a week. Then work on
reducing your viewing time even further over the next six months.
